We’ve known people to spend weeks camping outside Apple stores, waiting for the launch of the iPad 2, eager to get their hands on Steve Job’s newest brainchild before anyone else could. What we’ve never heard of before though, is people selling off their organs just to buy one of these! Known just by his surname, 17-year-old Zheng from China sold of his kidney just so he could afford an iPad 2. After trolling the internet, Zheng came across a buyer who offered RMB20000 for his kidney, and after a bit of negotiations, parted ways with his kidney at a hospital in Chenzhou for RMB22000. And as expected, the teen has faced sever repercussions after the surgery.
This just goes to show how irresistible the iPad 2 is, or maybe just how influencing marketing can get these days, flipping around the minds of the young to go to nightmarish extents just to keep up. And no, we sincerely do not encourage this!
