First the uproar on harmful chemicals and bad workers condition and now this. Foxconn Chengdu has a way of getting into trouble always. And this time it is serious. There was an explosion at the A05 polishing unit of Foxconn Chengdu manufacture plant in China yesterday at about seven last evening. The explosion, it is said, was apparently caused by a flammable special material used to clean the screen of iPad 2. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the explosion happened due to smoking near the material. Nearly 16 people are injured and two have died in the incident that has left the building, which also houses the production line for iPad 2 in four of its floors, partly collapsed. And while the fire is under control now, it will take some time before work can resume at the factory, which not only means a shortage of Apple products in China and across the world, but also a good chance of price of the sec gen tablet soaring.

And while Foxconn can be totally blamed for this considering its notorious reputation for employee healthcare, but for the love for Apple, we hope all's well soon.
