USB powered Radiation meters to warn of fallouts

The Fukushima Daiichi accident has been labelled as one of the worst nuclear accidents in history. Keeping in mind the severity of the situation the Japanese are taking no chances with radiation exposure. Available on the streets of Akihabara are trendy USB powered radiation meters, these nifty little gadgets have an onboard sensor with scintillation crystal which can measure X-ray and Gamma radiation. Once connected to the PC they can monitor the radiation at any pre-set interval between 30 - 3600 seconds and sound an alarm in case of high radiation. Available in Japan only these radiation meters sell for 79,800 Yen ($ 980).
